Family

John is married to Marianne and has three children: Matt, Luke and Carly.

John met Marianne in Lexington, Ky, in June of 1982 while working on a project. Marianne was a social worker working in Family and Children Services for the state of Kentucky. Five months later, they were married and living in Franklin.

Marianne received her undergraduate degree in social work from the University of Kentucky and obtained her master's degree in psychology from Trevecca University. Marianne is a licensed psychological examiner. Marianne has spent almost her entire career dealing with adoptive children and birth mothers. She currently has a private practice where she specializes in attachement issues for adoptive children.

Marianne is also active in Franklin. She served on the advisory counsel at Moore Elementary School while her children were students there and worked actively in the schools as a parent volunteer as her children grew. She is active in the Heritage Foundation and currently is the First Vice President of the Carnton Association. 

Marianne is also a licensed grief couselor and often does grief groups at the Franklin First United Methodist Church, where she and her family are members. John and Marianne have two children, Luke and Carly.

Matt, John's oldest son from his first marriage, is 29. Matt is married to Jodi, who is the Executive Director at the Cool Springs YMCA. The two live in East Nashville. Matt has an undergraduate degree from MTSU in Psychology, a master's degree from Trevecca University also in Psychology.

Luke is a Senior at Belmont University majoring in accounting. Luke plans to continue his studies and work toward an MBA. He plans to become a CPA when he finishes school.

Carly, 17, is a junior at Centennial High School. Carly is currently majoring in being a teenager, as most of the other parents of teenagers can fully comprehend.
